Description

This is my latest model a Mack RD 800 6x8 tipper with tipper trailer
To build this model I have used more than one kit. It consists two AMT tipper trailers, one AMT Mack DM 800, a resin cab/hood kit of a (for me) on known producer and some spare parts.

The frame of the AMT Mack DM800 kit is extended and it becomes a 3th axel with air suspension. This is the same type of axel as the first axel of the boogie of the DM800 kit (spare box). The resin RD 800 cab and hood (which I had bought on E-bay) were poor of condition and need lots of sanding and filler to get a good quality. The interior of the cab, mirrors, badges, windows etc. are from the AMT Mack kit. The frond bumper and the engine protection are hand by my self.

To make the tipper body I have use the body of one of the AMT trailer kits. It has been shorted and it becomes a new front part (this is included in the kit). The drawings of the first editions of this kit give instructions how to do this for a Mack DM800 tipper model (but this was for a 6x4 configuration). The chassis of this trailer kit is used for the turning undercarriage. It is shorted and lowered to fit under the chassis of the trailer.

The second AMT trailer kit is used for the trailer. The chassis and the body are shorted and the supports are removed.
