NISSAN R88C CONVERSION

Kit / Model

Nissan R89C

Manufacturer

Tamiya

Item Code

24093

Scale

1/24

Description

THIS NISSAN R88C WAS BUILT BY MODIFYING THE TAMIYA KIT OF ITS HOMELY OFFSPRING, THE R89C. THE BODYWORK WAS FORMED ON A HOME-MADE VACU-FORMER. THE BODYWORK WAS THEN MATED TO KIT'S CLOSED COCKPIT SECTION WHICH CLOSELY RESEMBLED THE R88C. THE KIT'S WINDSHIELD AND SIDE WINDOWS WERE ALSO USED. THE LOWER SIDE PANELS AND RADIATOR DUCTING WERE SCRATCH-BUILT FROM SHEET STYRENE. THE KIT CHASIS WAS MODIFIED TO ACCEPT THE BODYWORK. THE COMPLETED BODY SHELL WAS AIRBRUSHED IN A STRICTLY CONCEPTUAL DARK BLUE/SILVER/BRIGHT RED PAINT SCHEME DESIGNED AROUND THE COLORS OF THE KIT-SUPPLIED DECALS. FINALLY, THE COMPLETED BODYWORK WAS THEN OVER-SPRAYED WITH A FINE MIST OF JOHNSONS FUTURE WAX FOR A GLOSSY FINAL FINISH. VACU-FORMED HEADLIGHT COVERS WERE THEN FITTED TO COMPLETE THE MODEL.
