TOYOTA 92C PROTOTYPE CONVERSION

Kit / Model

Toyota bB

Manufacturer

Tamiya

Item Code

24224

Scale

1/24

Description

THIS TOYOTA 92C PROTOTYPE WAS BUILT FROM THE VINTAGE TAMIYA TOYOTA 88C. THE BODY WORK WAS MIDIFIED WITH SHEET STYRENE IN THE NOSE, SIDE PANELS, REAR DECK, AND WING SECTIONS. I AIRBRUSHED THE MODEL IN A SPLASHY CONCEPTUAL DARK BLUE-VIOLET/SUNBURST RED/SILVER SHADOW SCHEME THE "NOKIA" LETTERING WAS MADE FROM A STENCIL I CUT FROM THREE LAYERS OF DRAFTING TAPE LAID OVER EACH OTHER TO MAKE THE THREE AT ONE TIME. AFTER APPLYING THE STENCILS TO THE PAINTED BODYWORK, I AIRBRUSHED THE LETTERING WITH A THICKER-THAN-USUAL COAT OF GLOSS WHITE TO PREVENT ANY RUNNING UNDER THE STENCILS. SINCE IT WAS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT THIS TECHNIQUE, I WAS PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS. I CAN NOW MAKE A GREAT VARIETY OF SPONSOR LOGOS USING THIS METHOD.
