Description  

This is an interesting project.

In 1956 this Ferrari 857S (a derivative of the Monza) was delivered to its first owner in the USA. It was raced successfully there but over the course of time became detached from its original engine, an in line four cylinder engine designed by Aurelio Lampredi and raced throughout the 60's with an American V8 fitted (sacrilege!)
The original engine found its way to England many years ago and within the last couple of years the car itself has been procured by the owners of the engine to reunite them and do a total refurbish.

I have been asked to produce a model of this unique (the only one to be fitted with a 'D-Type' like fin) Ferrari in a scale of 1:12 so here are a few pictures of the build so far. I'll post more if there's any interest as the model progresses.

The Body with its first coat of paint. Another three coats will be added, and then a few coats of lacquer each coat rubbed back to produce the 'glow' required
The original car, Picture taken in the '50's (not by me :)
Tiny scratch build carburettors, two twins are required
The chassis produced from brass tubing soldered together
Photo etched pieces were drawn up and produced for suspension points and pick ups
De-dion rear suspension test fitted to the chassis with small dampers and a transverse leaf spring. The gear box on this car is on the back axle
 
the 'buck' for the body produced from resin, metal and filler, shaped from plans previously draw from pictures and measurements taken from the real car
The final moulding of the body primed so all the tiny holes and errors can be seen and rectified
does it fit?..so far so good
