Description

These photo’s are from my latest model
It is a Volvo F88 4x2 with 260 Hp, built in 1979. The recoveryunit is a EKA 2030 made in the mid 70s. I have made the model for Johan van der Zand, one of Europe’s biggest tow/recovery companys.

He has restored the truck in his own workshop together with some of his drivers/ mechanicals. The Volvo was in its active live a schell tanker truck at the Helsinki airport in Finland to fill up airplanes. The EKA recover unit was found somewhere in Sweden. After it was imported in to Holland it costs more than a year to fix the job. Now the truck is “one of his Volvo collection” a advertising object for his company.

Take a look at http://www.joh-vd-zand.nl/nl/home

T build the model I have used a KFS resin kit and transformed it into the right version. I removed the sleeper cab, made a left-hand dashboard, a smaller grill etc. The chassis is a length chassis of an Italeri Volvo F16 kit. For the EKA unit I have used some parts of the Italeri BRO unit, but I have made new winches, stiff legs, etc. The body is made by myself. To build the model I have used more than 200 photo’s of the restoration of the real truck and almost 100 photo’s of the finished truck.

To se how the real truck is restored take a look at
