1/20 1971 MCLAREN M8F CAN- AM

Kit / Model

Chevy Camaro 2006

Manufacturer

AMT/Ertl

Item Code

38467

Scale

1/25

Description

THIS MCLAREN M8F WAS BASED ON THE 1/20 SCALE VINTAGE MPC M8D KIT. IT FEATURES A VACU-FORMED BODY, ROLL BAR, SUSPENSION ARMS, AND WING BRACES MADE FROM ALUMINHHUM WELDING ROD, AND DRIVER FIGURE MADE FROM SCULPY PUTTY.
THE KIT TUB WAS USED, BUT THE WHEELBASE WAS LENGTHENED. THREE STYRENE SHEETS WERE LAMINATED AND GLUED TO THE SIDES OF THE BODYWORK TO FORM THE TAIL FINS AND REAR COOLING INTAKES. THE KIT WING WAS WIDENED AND USED AS WELL AS THE KIT VELOCITY STACKS. TAIL LIGHTS WERE MOUNTED ON AN ALUMUNUM TRIANGULAR FRAME AND ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION. ALUMINUM BODY PANELS WERE SIMULATED USING ALUMINUM FOIL. A STRICTLY CONCEPTUAL LIME/TEAL BLUE PAINT SCHEME WAS AIRBRUSHED, COVERED WITH A FINAL COAT OF FUTURE ACRYLIC FLOOR WAX. KIT DECALS WERE USED, BUT THE WHITE ROUNDELS AND CAR NUMBERS WERE AIRBRUSHED ON. OVERALL, THE PROJECT TOOK THREE MONTHS TO COMPLETE.
