Chinese Type 83 152mm SP Howitzer

Manufacturer

Trumpeter

Item Code

0305

Scale

1/35

Description

Several reasons made me take the decision to achieve a straight from the box model. There’s not information on how to detail it, the kit is very good as I said beforehand, and the painting job is enough to keep us busy for several weeks.
The kit is supplied with basic but quite complete interiors: engine, transmission, radiators, driver’s station, parts to detail the interior of the turret, etc. Anyway, I decided to build my model without them since, on the other hand, I left the motor for a future project. The engine of this vehicle is very similar to the V-2 Soviet, this is why, getting it properly adapted, it can be a good base to detail the T-55 and T-72 Russian tanks.
To make the construction and painting of the running gear and tracks easier, I built the hull and the superstructure separately, assembling them at the end, right before beginning the general painting job.
Both parts fit without problems as well as the wheels with poly-caps inside.
Summing up, assembly of the kit is straightforward indeed, took me a couple of days, and presented no fit problems or difficulties.
The only point that you should have in mind before starting the construction of this kit, better say all the Trumpeter kits, is to clean all parts including the tracks very carefully, submerging them in dishwashing liquid.
Actually, this should be done with any kit, but I noticed that in special the Trumpeters’ as well as the ICM kits have released agents surplus, which will bring us unpleasant surprises during the painting stage.
